A smart video doorbell like the Nest Hello lets you see who's at the door from your phone before you answer it. You can also pull up the video feed on smart displays like the Google Home Hub. If audio quality is important to you, the Google Home Max is the device for you. The Max makes an excellent centerpiece to a home audio system, or a standalone speaker; it's an Editors' Choice for one of the best smart speakers on the market. The only downside we could find is that it has a bit too much bass for some tastes.

One of the most attractive aspects of the Google Home Mini was its low price; at just $49 / £49 / AU$79, it’s consistently one of the most affordable smart speakers on the market. Nest Audio refreshes Google's original speaker, boosting eco credentials with more recycled material, while bringing in a fresh new design too. Rather than 360-degree sound, the sound is now directional, but with a good size of speaker driver and a tweeter in this compact unit, the sound quality is really good for the price. Interpretation of the news based on evidence, including data; projecting how events might unfold based on past events or how products and services compare against each other. Both the Google Home and Google Nest Audio smart speakers are little wonders, and if you don’t care too much about music, we think the Google Home still makes a solid choice. If you have a smart home with lots of devices, you can download the Google Home app to sort out your collection and help you keep in control of your futuristic Jetsons-style home, apartment, or office.
Can You FaceTime on Google Home Hub?
If you have a complex HVAC system, the full-size Nest is for you, but some users may be able to get by with the cheaper Nest Thermostat E. The Google Nest Hub Max is the biggest Home device with a display and ushered in the name change to Nest. That's because it incorporates a camera which can not only be used for Duo calling, but offers full Nest Cam functions too, so it also acts as a security device. It will also work with Nest's face recognition, so it can change the display details to suit different users, though it doesn't deliver familiar face alerts like the Nest Hello or Nest Cam IQ. Thanks to its diminutive size, the Nest Mini can be placed virtually anywhere, including wall-mounted, and even kept out of sight if you wish.

The best way to ensure safety is by installing home security systems. After comparing both security systems’ prices and packages, we found that SimpliSafe is the more affordable option when it comes to the cost of equipment and monthly monitoring rates. Google Nest and SimpliSafe both offer effective home security systems that protect families. They have their own advantages, but in order to determine which is better, it is important to compare their prices and packages. One of the most interesting features is their Smart Motion Sensor. Unlike other sensors that notify you about any movement, SimpliSafe’s Smart Motion Sensor distinguishes between humans and pets.
Google Nest Mini vs. Google Home Mini
The only reason you should choose the Home Mini is if you can snag it when it’s on sale. You still have to use the Nest appto set up a Nest thermostat or camera. Nest speakers and smart displays, however, require you to use the Google Home app.

Last year, Google refreshed the Nest camera lineup for the first time in several years, but it also came with a change on the software side of things. The Google Home app is supposed to replace the Nest app, but the transition period has been a maddening limbo. Nearly a year later, virtually nothing has changed on that front either.
Google Nest vs. SimpliSafe
Editorial independence means being able to give an unbiased verdict about a product or company, with the avoidance of conflicts of interest. To ensure this is possible, every member of the editorial staff follows a clear code of conduct. Upgrading to the Nest Audio means that your old Google Home can be moved into another room, continuing to provide the same range of features. The only minor downside is that Google also hasn’t updated the Nest Audio’s wireless connectivity to support WiFi 6. Google Home and Google Nest are both owned by Google, and they are practically the same because they are both interconnected to carry out their primary function – home automation. Google has a lot of options for smart homes, despite their confusing names.
Google Home, Nest, and Assistant are all entirely different things, despite overlapping in some areas. So, if you’ve ever wondered what the difference between the three is, don’t worry—it’s not as complicated as it might initially seem. Smart homes are taking over in a big way, and Google provides some of the best options out there. Even so, there is still plenty of confusion over what exactly each part of Google’s connected home ecosystem does.
But we'll have to keep our fingers crossed for something unique in Google's future plans. He has been covering consumer technology for over a decade and previously worked as Managing Editor at XDA-Developers. Joe loves all things technology and is also an avid DIYer at heart. He has written thousands of articles, hundreds of tutorials, and dozens of reviews.
He enjoys everything to do with technology, including tablets, smartphones, and everything in between. Perhaps his favorite past-time is collecting different headphones, even if they all end up in the same drawer. Moving to the speakers and microphones, you may end up noticing that the Nest Audio is more receptive than the Google Home. That's because there is an additional far-field microphone on board, compared to the two-microphone array on the 2016 speaker. The Nest Audio will also sound better thanks to the combination of the 75mm woofer and 19mm tweeter. Perhaps the Home's most interesting aspect wasn't that it featured the same internal hardware as the second-generation Chromecast.
The Google Nest Mini is the successor to the company’s most affordable smart speaker, the Google Home Mini – and while they look very similar, there are a few key differences between the two desk buddies. The Nest Guard hub is an alarm, keypad, and motion sensor with the Google Assistant built in. Add Nest Detect sensors to monitor specific doors, windows, and rooms. Nest Tags attach to key rings to easily arm and disarm Nest Secure; just hover them over the Nest Guard hub.

And yes, there’s a dedicated button to mute the mic if you do not want the speaker to listen to you always. The best part of this speaker is that it bundles an Ethernet port to work with a wired connection. As opposed to the plain looks of the Sonos speaker, the Nest Audio speaker packs a modern look. But let not the look confuse you, for it’s pretty tall and heavy. Unlike the Sonos speaker, the Nest Audio speaker doesn’t bundle any visible buttons.
